UGA's Ruth Taylor Honored By Dietetic Association

Athens, Ga. --- Ruth Taylor, sports nutritionist for the University of Georgia Athletic Association, was honored at the annual meeting of the Georgia Dietetic Association (GDA) last week at Callaway Gardens.
Taylor was recognized for Distinguished Service to the Northeast Georgia District. There are eight districts statewide. The Northeast Georgia District covers Banks, Barrow, Clarke, Elbert, Franklin, Greene, Habersham, Hall, Hart, Jackson, Lumpkin, Madison, Morgan, Oconee, Ogelthorpe, Rabun, Stephens, Towns, Union, Walton and White counties.
"Ruth does an outstanding job working with all of our student-athletes at the University of Georgia," said Ron Courson, director of sports medicine for the UGA Athletic Association. "Sports nutrition is a vital part of our overall sports medicine program. Ruth is well known and respected in her field both regionally and nationally and is very deserving of this award. I'm proud of her accomplishments and glad to have her as a member of our sports medicine team."
A native of Lilburn, Ga., and a graduate of Parkview High School, Taylor was a member of the Georgia track and field team as a jumper while at Georgia. She is a double-degree holder from UGA, receiving her bachelor's in dietetics in 2003 and a master's in food and nutrition in 2005. Taylor was recognized as the Georgia Dietetic Association's outstanding dietetic intern in 2005.
