Getting To Know Georgia Volleyball Student-Athlete Michele Simmons

ATHENS, Ga. --- With the 2008 season underway, Bulldog fans can get to know the newest members of the Georgia volleyball team with “Getting To Know” features on georgiadogs.com. Next in the series is Michele Simmons.
The 2008 recruiting class was ranked 30th by PrepVolleyball.com becoming the first-ever ranked recruiting class in school history.
Question: Who has had the most influence on your athletic career? Why?
Answer: My dad because he got me to start playing, encouraged me and took me to practices.
Q: Your most memorable moment in sports is?
A: Winning MVP in my state all-star game and beating our high school rivals my senior year.
Q: What is the best part of being a collegiate-athlete?
A: Being on a team and staying in shape.
Q: What is the best advice you have ever received from a coach?
A: Never show frustration on the court. No matter how much you mess up don’t let it show on your face.
Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete?
A: Freddy Adu.
Q: Who is your favorite professional sports team?
A: The Lakers.
Q: What celebrity would you most like to meet?
A: Denzel Washington.
Q: Who is your favorite singer/musical group?
A: Danity Kane.
Q: What is your favorite song?
A: “Tiny Dancer” by Elton John.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: Now and Then.
Q: Who is your favorite movie star?
A: James Franco.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: That’s 70’s Show, Lost and Girlfriends.
Q: What is your favorite color?
A: Pink.
Q: What is the best book that you have ever read?
A: Twilight.

A: Barbeque.

A: Christmas.
Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, present or past, who would they be?
A: My Grandfather, Jake Gyllenhaal and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Q: What is the place that you haven’t traveled to, that you would most like to visit?
A: Ireland.
Q: What is one thing that you’ve never been able to do, but you want to someday?
A: Snorkeling.
Q: What would be your dream job?
A: Crime scene investigator.
The Georgia volleyball team (7-6, 0-2 SEC) returns home this weekend following a nine-match road stretch. The Bulldogs will play in their home Southeastern Conference opener against the Kentucky Wildcats (11-2, 2-0 SEC) on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. ET. On Sunday, Sept. 28, Georgia will welcome the Tennessee Lade Volunteers (7-4, 2-0 SEC) to the Ramsey Center for a 1:30 p.m. contest. Admission to all home matches is free.
