Freshman Q&A With Tavarres King
September 22, 2008 | Football
Every Monday, Bulldog fans have been given the chance to get to know freshman players of UGA's football team with "Q&A" features on georgiadogs.com. The third installment in this series is with Tavarres King.
What has been the hardest transition for you up to this point?
The terminology of the game has been tough to pick up on and adjust to. It is just so much more complex here than in high school.
What is the biggest difference so far in playing college football?
The speed of the game and of practice. There is just so much thrown at us in a short time with film study, practices and games that you have to just get used to all of it coming at you quickly
How did your father, a former college football player, prepare you for what to expect?
When I was younger we would spend a lot of time throwing the football around the backyard and he just taught me to enjoy the game and play for the love of playing. That has carried over through every level of my career
Has living in Athens lived up to your expectations?
Living in Athens has been awesome. It is a very nice town and there are a lot of great people all around you both young and old. It has been a lot of fun and I am glad I am here.
How do you like the classes you have taken so far?
So far they have been about the same as high school they just go at a faster pace so you have to learn more in a short time
What is the best advice you have been given so far?
Just to keep your head up. You are going to struggle on and off the field and experience some set backs, but mentally you have to be tough in football and in life.
