September 1, 2000 - Former legendary athletes Bill Stanfill, Lucy Werner, Alec Kessler, and Spurgeon "Spud" Chandler inducted into the UGA Circle of Honor -- the highest tribute paid to former Bulldog athletes or coaches.

September 1, 2001 - Coach Richt earned his first win as the University of Georgia head football coach on Saturday, September 1 defeating Arkansas State, 47-17.

September 1, 2006 - The University of Georgia Athletic Association held an official dedication ceremony, prior to the 15th-ranked soccer team’s match against 20th-ranked BYU, in honor of the Hoyt “Jack” Turner family of Athens on August 31, 2006 the Turner Soccer complex which bears his name. Turner is a former Georgia baseball (1951) and basketball (1951-52) player who also has served as the volunteer chairman of the Athletic Scholarship Endowment Program. In addition to its contributions made to the soccer program, the Turner family has endowed 10 scholarships for football, men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics and baseball.
