August 5, 2003 - UGA football play-by-play broadcaster Larry Munson named the 2003 recipient of the Chris Schenkel Award presented by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, given annually to a college football broadcaster who has excelled in his field and contributed to his community.

 August 5, 2006 -  Senior Krista Woodward won her first national javelin title at the Canadian Track & Field Championships in Ottawa, Ontario
