August 4, 1998 - Georgia freshman-to-be Erik Compton became the first heart transplant recipient to qualify for the U.S. Amateur Golf Championship by shooting 69-72 at the Weston Hills Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

August 4, 2006 - Georgia's Chris Colwill added his second national title in as many days on Friday as he took top honors in the men's 3-meter springboard competition at the Kaiser Permanente National Diving Championships.
