August 19, 2005 - Richard Scott of Kingsville, Ontario, a member of the Georgia men's golf team, knocked off Jay Snyder of Vancouver 10-8 at Bell Bay Golf Club to win the 2005 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.

August 19, 2005 - The Georgia equestrian staff celebrated the prominent addition of venerated equine judge and instructor Carla Wennberg as an assistant coach. Wennberg, a graduate of the University of Georgia, served as an international AQHA and NRHA, and had held the post as Director of Equine Activities at Martin Community College in Williamston.
