August 14, 2004 - The UGA Soccer Dogs defeated the North Carolina State Wolfpack, 2-0 in a preseason exhibition in Athens. Senior forward Ali Williams hit the back of the net twice for the Bulldogs in her first appearance up top since her freshman year. Georgia outshot N.C. State 14-6, with shots on goal going in favor of the Bulldogs at 5-1. The format for the scrimmage was three 30-minute periods. This was head coach Patrick Baker's first appearance coaching at UGA.


August 14, 2004 - Swimmers Kara Lynn Joyce and Amanda Weir helped lead the US 4x100-meter freestyle relay team to the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Maritza Correia also earned a silver medal for swimming in the 400m free relay prelims at the 2004 Games.

August 14, 2008 - Incoming Georgia freshman Allison Schmitt won a bronze medal as a member of the women’s 800-meter freestyle relay on Thursday at the Olympics.
