Hints For Covering 2008 Georgia Football

Practice/Facility Access
1. As a general rule, practices during the season will be open to media who cover Georgia on a regular basis for periods 1-4, Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays (period 1 starts after flex and special teams work). Certain practices may be subject to being closed at the discretion of the head coach. Check in at the sports communications office in advance to check access for that day.
2. While you are on the practice field, please remain in one of the following areas: 1. between the Butts-Mehre building and field number one along the sideline; 2. behind the practice field end zones in front of the track grandstand. Please do not stand between the fields used by the offense and defense or in the trainer’s shed area.
3. Please do not talk with players, coaches, trainers, managers,or doctors during practice.
4. Locker, training, and weight rooms are open only to coaches, staff, and players.
5. Please make an appointment before going to the second floor coaches office area or first floor weight training area.
6. Please use the following route to the practice field: 1) Down elevator to first floor and through weight room door next to racquetball courts. Please do not use door next to the elevators on the first floor.
Photos/Video
1. Photographers only (video and still) are allowed around the edges of the practice fields for photo opportunities on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, periods 1-4. The remainder of the practices will be closed to all media. A member of the sports communications office will be available to provide cutoff times each day and which sessions may be photographed.
2. A reminder that any video shot during practice is limited to a total of three minutes on any credentialed website or as part of a television station sportscast or on the web site of a TV station or newspaper.
Player/Coach Contact
If you would like to interview a player or coach, please contact the sports communications office. Please do not call players or coaches on their cell phones or home phones.
Richt Television Interviews
1. Coach Richt will meet with television reporters for very brief on-camera interviews 15 minutes before the start of each practice on the practice field or after practice. However, this must be scheduled in advance with the sports communications office. Please make appointment through Karen Huff (khuff@sports.uga.edu) 706-542-1621.
Print/Radio Media Interviews
1. Players will be available to media for interviews during the regular season at the regular Tuesday media luncheon, and after practice Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Representatives of the sports communications office will be on duty at each practice to assist you in arranging interviews.
2. Each media representative may request a maximum of four players after each practice or if there is more than one representative from a media outlet, that outlet is limited to a total of six.
3. Assistant coaches will be available for post-practice interviews on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the season.
4. Most post-practice assistant coach and player interviews will be conducted in the team meeting room immediately after the practice session unless otherwise specified.
5. Coach Richt will meet with print/radio media during the regular season at the Tuesday media luncheon and on Wednesdays and Thursdays following practice in the team meeting room. He also has a Sunday teleconference at 5:30 p.m..
6. Media attending a scrimmage warmup at Sanford Stadium are asked not to go on the field. Media are welcome to sit in the press box or stands at Sanford Stadium. All post-scrimmage interviews will be conducted at the Butts-Mehre Building team meeting room.
