June 30, 1999 - University of Georgia baseball coach Ron Polk announced Wednesday the first member of his staff, hiring pitching coach Daron Schoenrock. Schoenrock (pron. SHONE-rock), a native of Fayetteville, Tenn., joins the Bulldogs from the University of Kentucky, where he spent the last two seasons as an assistant under Keith Madison. Schoenrock worked with the pitchers and catchers while also handling recruiting. Three Wildcat pitchers signed professional contracts this season and four recruits were selected earlier this month in the amateur draft. Schoenrock has spoken at numerous clinics across the country including the 1999 American Baseball Coaches National Convention in Atlanta.
June 30, 1999 - Former University of Georgia basketball player Jumaine Jones was selected No. 27 in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks in Wednesday's NBA Draft. His rights were later traded to the Philadelphia 76ers for a future first round draft pick.
June 30, 2006 - UGA finished ninth in the U.S. Sports Academy Director's Cup for the 2005-2006 academic year.
June 30, 2004 - Baseball head coach David Perno named "National Coach of the Year."
