Georgia vs. Lipscomb - Postgame Quotes

June 02, 2008 | General

Georgia Head Coach David Perno
“It was a good win, and a very good one for Nathan (Moreau). We needed that, and our offense had to come through early and set the tone, and they did. We need some special players to be special to do this, and they made it happen for us in this first game, and now we got it do it again tonight.”

Georgia Junior Pitcher, #13 Nathan Moreau
Opening Statement
“This is what we needed today.  Offensively, we put up great run support.  Myself and (Justin) Earls grinded out some innings and did what we needed to do.  It was a big win, and we need another one tonight.”

On his performance
“I did a good job mixing off-speed stuff with the fastball. Our defense did a great job tonight making plays, and I had full run support.  I just tried to go one, two, three and let the offense just keep pounding it.  Our coaches told me to grind because they needed me to go seven innings.  I just grinded it out, and only using myself and (Justin) Earls was big because it saved everyone else.”

On facing elimination
“It is our team.  For some reason we play great in elimination games and when our backs are against the wall. We did what we needed to do.  We don’t want it to be the last game of our season or for our seniors.  We needed to get this win, and since we did it was just awesome.”

Lipscomb Head Coach Jeff Forehand
Opening Statement
“It was a tough game.  They are a very good team and you saw today why they are SEC Champions.  They attacked us from the very beginning and showed everybody how good they are.”

On what was different from the first game
“The first game we had a lot of emotion still from our conference tournament, and they were coming off a couple of games where they didn’t play as well as they are capable.  They know how to score, how to swing the bats and they did great at that today.  You have to tip your cap to Georgia, they played better today.”

Lipscomb Senior Outfielder, #19 Blake Bratcher
Opening Statement
“We wanted to play hard and stay aggressive, and we put it all on the line.  You have to tip your cap to Georgia.  They played a better game and the best of luck to them.”

On Georgia pitcher Nathan Moreau’s performance
“He pounded the strike zone and threw a lot of strikes and his off-speed stuff was very good.  We stayed aggressive but stuff just didn’t fall.  You have to tip your cap to him, he played a heck of a game.”

Lipscomb Sophomore Pitcher, #28 Josh Smith
On Lipscomb’s season
“We have a great team and great coaches here at Lipscomb.  We certainly had our fair share of ups and downs this season from the conference tournament to here today.  We are all looking forward to where we can go from here.”
