Game Four: Georgia Tech 6, Lipscomb 3

Georgia Tech Head Coach Danny Hall
Opening statement...
“I thought it was a great ball game, and I know that we couldn’t breathe easy until we caught that last out. We were able to get some runs early and felt like we were in pretty good shape and Deck (McGuire) was able to really mix up his pitches and everything he threw moved. He could throw all of his pitches right where he wanted them. We hit some balls hard and couldn’t find any holes. They fought hard and got back into the game. I thought our bullpen got some big outs. Taylor Wood came in and got a big out. Our pitching gave us a chance and Feltes came up to the plate. There’s not a guy I’d rather see up there than him. He is a very clutch hitter. I tip my cap to Lipscomb. They played extremely well.”

Georgia Tech Senior Infielder, #15 Brian Feltes
Opening statement...
“I thought Lipscomb was a great team. We tried to come out here with high intensity, and we scored three early runs but they fought back. Our pitching kept us in the whole game, and we were lucky enough to get a few good hits late in the game. I thought our pitching kept us in the game the whole time.”

On his two-run double in the eighth inning...
“I was just trying to get a good look at what the guy was throwing on the first pitch and after he threw strike one I had to be aggressive. He gave me a pitch that I was able to hit, deeper in the count, and that was about it. As a kid, you dream of having those situations when you’re up to bat and I was just fortunate enough to have a few hits in those situations throughout this season.”

Georgia Tech Junior Catcher, #29 Jason Haniger
On his home runs in the regional...
“I thought that I hit the one last night a little better, actually. I got under that a little bit tonight. I was just happy to see where it landed.”

Lipscomb Head Coach Jeff Forehand
Opening statement...
“They just have a good team. Our game plan again was to just be in the game in the late innings and Brandon (McClurg) gave us a chance to do that. He gave up that one bad pitch early, and after the three-run home run we were able to settle down and get ourselves back in the game. With a team as good as they are we just wanted to be in the game at the end and give our staff a chance to do that. They got the big hit when they needed to.”

Lipscomb Junior Pitcher, #14 Brandon McClung
Opening statement...
“We stayed in the game until the end and that was my goal: to have a chance at the end. It just didn’t go our way in the end, and that’s the way that baseball goes, I guess.”
