May 16, 1999 - Competing on her home track for the final time in a Georgia uniform, Debbie Ferguson blows away the field in winning the 100- and 200-meter dash titles at the SEC Outdoor Championships. Ferguson's winning times of 11.05 and 22.35 are both SEC records, while the latter mark also bettered Gwen Torrence's Georgia record in the 200-meters.

May 16, 2002 - The No. 25-ranked Georgia softball team earned its first NCAA tournament victory and head coach Lu Harris-Champer won her 300th game with a 2-1 win over Maryland-Baltimore County at Beckham Field on Thursday.

May 16, 2006 - Georgia clinches the SEC All-Sports Trophy sponsored by the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group, breaking a 14-year hold on the trophy by Florida.
