May 11, 2008 - Eighth-ranked Georgia captured the 2008 Southeastern Conference title with a 12-10 win over 16th-ranked Vanderbilt Sunday at Hawkins Field. It was the Bulldogs sixth overall SEC title in school history (1933, 1953, 1954, 2001, 2004, 2008), the third this decade including the second under head coach David Perno.

May 11, 2004 -
Vince Dooley named recipient of the 39th James J. Corbett Memorial Award, presented annually by the Officers and Executive Committee of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) to the collegiate administrator who "through the years has most typified Corbett's devotion to intercollegiate athletics and worked unceasingly for its betterment." Corbett, athletics director at Louisiana State University, was NACDA1s first president in 1965. The award is the highest honor one can achieve in collegiate athletics administration.
