Team Notes:
Georgia (20-10) has won seven in a row and lead the SEC with a 9-3 mark following a sweep of ninth-ranked South Carolina. USC was held to just five runs, all coming on solo home runs. Georgia's SEC ERA leads the league at 2.72 with junior Trevor Holder leading the Bulldog starters at 1.98 ERA overall to go with a 3-2 mark. During the winning streak, Georgia's ERA is 2.25.

The Georgia bullpen has not allowed an earned run in the last 34.1 innings of SEC action, a span of 10 games. In the series sweep of #9 USC, they tossed nine scoreless innings. The bullpen stalwarts this season include sophomores Alex McRee, Justin Earls and Dean Weaver along with seniors Nick Montgomery and Joshua Fields.

After playing one of the nation's toughest pre-SEC schedules, the Bulldogs are now 10-6 against top 25 teams this year. The 10 wins leads the SEC.

During the current winning streak, Georgia has been led offensively by junior catcher Bryce Massanari and first baseman Rich Poythress. In the past seven games, Massanari is batting .444-0-6 while Poythress is hitting .407-2-7 as teams opt to pitch to them rather than junior shortstop Gordon Beckham who is hitting .280-2-4 in this stretch with six walks. Overall, Beckham leads the team at .419-15-36 and a .975 FLDG%.

Senior 3B Ryan Peisel (.350-5-27) is riding a team-best 13-game hitting streak, and in this stretch, he is batting .377 (20-for-53) with 13 RBI. As the leadoff hitter, he is batting .355-3-23. He returned to that role following the first series of the season. Against top-ranked Arizona, Peisel batted second, going 5-for-15 with 2 HRs and 4 RBI while sophomore 2B Michael Demperio batted leadoff. Peisel hit leadoff for the final 21 games of the 2007 season, hitting .374-3-18. Peisel and junior SS Gordon Beckham have started every game for the Bulldogs since 2006, a stretch of 156 games.

Georgia has another five-game week, facing Winthrop (12-19) Tuesday at Foley Field, Georgia Tech (25-7) Wednesday in Atlanta and play host to an SEC series with #21 Kentucky (25-5, 7-5 SEC) starting Friday at Foley Field. The midweek starters for the Bulldogs will be freshman RHP Justin Grimm (0-0, 5.54) Tuesday and sophomore LHP Alex McRee (5-1, 3.42) on Wednesday. SportSouth will televise Wednesday's game while FoxSportsNet will be in town Saturday for the UGA-UK contest as it is the "SEC Game of the Week."
