Bulldogs Conclude Final Practice Before Spring Break

March 08, 2008 | Football

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia football team had its final practice on Friday afternoon before taking a week off for spring break. The Bulldogs will take off next week before returning to practice at the Woodruff practice fields on Monday, March 17.

“I think the week off gives the guys who are banged up a much better chance to be ready when we get back and for them not to lose any time this spring,” said head coach Mark Richt.

Although Richt said he got “a little upset with the offense” during the latter half of practice, he singled out freshmen Dontavius Jackson and Richard Samuel as well as redshirt freshman Caleb King for their efforts.

“Our young backs had some nice blocks and runs today and I think after the last two days, they have all gained some confidence,” Richt said. “Richard actually picked up a linebacker blitzing today and Dontavius had a couple touchdown runs.”

Several of those players who will get a chance to recover from injuries are redshirt freshman Chris Little (foot), sophomore Bruce Figgins (ankle) and senior Marcus Washington (shoulder).

The Bulldogs play their annual G-Day spring scrimmage at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, April 5, at 2 p.m.
