March 1, 1932 - In a game characterized by intense defense and low scoring, the Georgia men's basketball team won the Southern Conference title with a 26-24 defeat of North Carolina. Georgia's win over North Carolina was its last game as a member of the Southern Conference. Later that year Georgia joined 13 other schools as charter members of the SEC.
March 1, 2005 - Freshman basketball player Tasha Humphrey named SEC Freshman of the Year by the league coaches.
March 1, 2009 -- Freshman sprinter Torrin Lawrence won Georgia's first SEC indoor title in the 200-meter dash before later earning All-American honors
in the event. Lawrence was later named the USTFCCCA South Region Track Athlete of the Year and the SEC Male Freshman Runner of the Year.
