| BIOGRAPHY: 2007: A First-Team All-American on vault. Also competed on the uneven bars in both of Georgia’s competitions at the NCAA Championships, scoring a career-high 9.9 on bars. The first freshman to compete for Georgia in the season-opener. Tied for first on vault at Kentucky with a 9.85. Her 9.9 on vault at N.C. State was a career high, as the first four gymnasts in that lineup all set or tied their best marks. Competed in three events for the first time in her career in the meet at LSU. Matched her career best on vault and bars in the meet against No.3 Alabama. In just her second floor routine, she notched a 9.825 against Auburn. Notched her third 9.9 on vault at UCLA. Received a 4.0 spring GPA. Named to SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll. Listed as a NACGC Academic All-American. A former U.S. Elite National Team Member... participated in the 2004 Olympic Trials Camp... three-year member of U.S. National team... notched several first-place awards during her international career, including the 2004 FL Gym Open in Luxembourg... she was also a member of the gold-medal winning team at the 2003 Pan-American Games... in 2004 she placed second in the all-around at the American Classic and she was sixth in the all-around at the National Elite Podium meet... winner of the 2002 Junior Pan American Championship... trained at Excalibur Gymnastics under Jim and Dena Walker, the same gym as former Gym Dog Cory Fritzinger... daughter of James and Olivia Newby... has an older brother named James (5/3/86). |
