Bulldog Riders Cruise Past Baylor, 16-4

The Bulldogs won all four events and picked up MVP rides in all four, even posting a shutout 5-0 margin in Western Reining. Even with Georgia's lofty history in the young sport, rarely has it ever won by such a one-sided score.
"I couldn't be happier with the way we started this trip," said Georgia coach Meghan Boenig. "We had some really impressive rides on some questionable horses and that speaks well for just how prepared we were. I think today will set the tone for the rest of our stay in Texas."
Georgia got the day started with 4-1 victory in Equitation Over Fences. Kacy Jenkins took home MVP honors with an 82-78 decision over Baylor's Nicole Brown. Emma Lipman, Haylie Jayne and Kelley Cowperthwait all posted winning rides in the Fences competition.
Georgia's Horsemanship corps defeated the Bears by a 3-2 count, with Katelyn Van Allen (MVP), junior Texan Lauren Love and Laura Upton all winning points for the Bulldogs. In Equitation on the Flat, sophomore Amy Klebesadel turned in perhaps the top ride of the day, a 21-point decision (82-61) that netted her MVP honors. Lipman, Jayne and freshman Michelle Morris all picked up Flat points for Georgia.
The Georgia reiners closed out the victory with a 5-0 decision. Last year's national champion reiner, Sarah Locker, won MVP in the Baylor meet, scoring 73 to a 71.5 by the Bears' Katie Buss. Nichole Grant, Hannah Dyer, Diandra St. Hilaire and Kate Stewart all won their rides in Reining.
Georgia's weekend odyssey continues on Saturday with a match against sixth-ranked TCU that starts at 11:00 a.m. (EST).
