ATHENS, Ga. --- Courtney Kupets has been chosen as the Georgia gymnastics team’s Athlete of the Week.

According to the Gym Dogs coaches, Kupets successfully balanced school, workouts and events outside of the gym last week.

The coaches say Kupets has made tremendous strides toward being competition ready. She has made an effort to push herself in and out of the gym. She added her second tumbling pass in her routine before the student-athletes were asked to and kept a tremendous attitude about encouraging everyone and motivating her teammates.

Her beam score during an intrasqaud meet was 9.95. Kupets has done a good job of pacing herself and coming back from her Achilles injury. The coaches said Kupets has had a superior attitude and has been focused on where she needs to be for the start of the season in January.

The coaches said Kupets also has been encouraging, inspirational and a leader to her teammates during the preseason workouts.
