Bulldogs Hand Out Awards For 2006-07 Season

ATHENS, Ga. The Georgia men’s golf team handed out its annual awards on Saturday at the 2008 Tee-Off Club Board Dinner at Athens Country Club.
Chris Kirk won the Dick Copas Award for the third straight year as the Bulldog with the lowest scoring average. Kirk averaged 71.14 as he earned First-Team All-America honors for the second time and won the Ben Hogan Award as the nation’s top player.
The Howell Hollis Award for the Bulldog with the best grade point average went to Brendon Todd, who recorded a 3.64. Todd ended his career as just the second four-time All-American in the program’s history and he twice was named a Cleveland Golf Scholar All-American.
Jimmy Blanchard of Columbus and John Barrett of Athens received the Eddie Sams Award. Blanchard was recognized as a past letterman and Barrett was honored as a patron. The Sams Award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the program. It is named in honor of former letterman Eddie Sams, whose love for the university and the golf program was the inspiration behind the creation of the Tee-Off Club.
