January 29, 1996 - Spurred by five straight wins over ranked opponents, the Georgia women's basketball team took over the No. 1 ranking in both the AP and CNN/USA Today polls. Saudia Roundtree averaged 26.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 3.0 steals during the span and helped lock up National Player of the Year honors in the process.
January 29, 2001 - Junior guard D.A. Layne, who led Georgia in scoring in both of its victories last week, was named today as the Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the league office in Birmingham.
