ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 12-ranked Georgia Bulldogs (1-0) went through a spirited two-and-a-half-hour workout in full pads on Tuesday afternoon in preparation for this Saturday's SEC opener against South Carolina (1-0) at Sanford Stadium.

"We were trying to go 'thud' but everybody seemed like they wanted to tackle," head coach Mark Richt said. "They were pretty excited to practice today. We got a good break on the weather with some cloud cover."

Earlier in the afternoon Richt discussed the match-up with the Gamecocks during his weekly press conference.

"We know how important this game is," Richt said. "It’s the first one of the year Southeastern Conference race. We have a high respect for this game. We have had a lot of close games with them over the years, and we don’t think this will be anything but a 60-minute fight. This is a game that is huge for us and for them. The winner is on the right track and the loser is just about in a situation where they have to win out in order to win the league and that is very difficult to do.”

Kickoff at Sanford Stadium is slated for 5:45 p.m., and the game will be televised nationally by ESPN2. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on AM 750 WSB in Atlanta and on both 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens. The radio audio also can be heard worldwide on both georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics, and on XM satellite radio.
