Bulldogs Finish Four Saturdays On Athens Habitat House

June 30, 2007 | Football

ATHENS, Ga. -- University of Georgia head coach Mark Richt and over 30 of his players finished up their part on the Bulldogs’ most recent Habitat for Humanity project on Saturday.

In conjunction with HomeBanc Mortgage Corporation and Habitat for Humanity, the Bulldogs have been working out a little differently over the past four Saturdays in June. The student-athletes and coaches have been teaming up with other volunteers from the Athens area to build a house for a single mother and cancer survivor. The house, a Habitat for Humanity “Building on the Dream” project, is being built in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King’s belief that “poverty, hunger, and homelessness” should not be tolerated

The Bulldogs have worked with Habitat for Humanity five of the last six years. Included on the list of Bulldogs working alongside Richt and HomeBanc’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Race were safety Kelin Johnson of Daytona Beach, Fla., fullback Brannan Southerland of Dacula, and quarterbacks Joe Cox of Charlotte, N.C., and Matthew Stafford of Dallas, Tex.
