ATHENS, Ga. --- Lesli Bailey, a former equestrian at Texas A&M University, has been named assistant equestrian coach at the University of Georgia as announced by head coach Meghan Boenig on Tuesday.

Bailey was a three-year letter winner for the Aggies where she captured Regional and Zone NCAA Reserve Championships in 2003. That same year, she was a competitor at the IHSA National Horse Show. Bailey was not only an accomplished rider, but she also excelled in the classroom where she was a member of the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for Scholar Athletes in 2000, 2001 and 2003.

“This is a dream come true for me,” said Bailey. “I am very excited for this opportunity to become a member of the UGA staff.”

Before joining the Bulldogs, Bailey was employed by the City of Arlington (Texas) where she served as the Community Development and Planning Addressing Project Manager. Previous to that she served as a Sales and Service Representative for Cardinal Health in Grand Prairie, Texas and Project Manager for The Miller Company in Colleyville, Texas.

“What sold us on Lesli was her overwhelming enthusiasm for this sport and our program,” said Boenig. “She brings a level of maturity and professionalism to equestrian. She is going to be a wonderful addition, and I am so excited to have her join our team.”

Bailey graduated cum laude from Texas A&M with a degree in biomedical science in 2003.
