About THRIVE

June 21, 2007 | General

Who: The THRIVE Program works in cooperation with the UGA Sports Medicine team to provide counseling and sport psychology services to UGA student-athletes and teams. Services are provided by Drew Brannon, who is currently pursuing his doctorate in Counseling Psychology and is also a former collegiate athlete.

What: THRIVE services consist of two primary domains: counseling and sport psychology. Although some cases involve concerns that overlap to both areas, others are more exclusive to either counseling or sport performance. Services are provided to individuals, couples, groups, or teams.

Why: Being a collegiate student-athlete presents unique challenges in the areas of personal life, academic demands, and athletic performance. The THRIVE program is devoted to assisting student-athletes as they face these challenges with the hope of improving the quality of their lives, both personally and in terms of sport. We seek to encourage a mindset that considers both the collegiate athlete experience as well as the years beyond competition.

Contact: If you are a student-athlete interested in learning more or setting up an appointment, please speak with your coach, athletic trainer, or other member of the UGA Sports Medicine staff. You can also call 706-583-0450 or send an email to: thrive@sports.uga.edu.
