UGA Athletic Association, SportSouth Enter Into Television Rights Agreement

ATHENS-------- SportSouth announced Wednesday a multi-year television rights agreement with the University of Georgia Athletic Association through its broadcast rights holder Cox Radio/WSB News Talk 750. Beginning with the 2007-08 school year, SportSouth will be the exclusive regional sports network outlet for The Mark Richt Show and The Dennis Felton Show. SportSouth will televise 13 football coach’s shows and 13 men’s basketball coach’s shows each year.

“SportSouth is committed to serving the interests of sports fans across the Southeast, and Georgia Bulldog fans are about as passionate as sports fans get,” said Jeff Genthner, senior vice president and general manager of FSN South and SportSouth. “We are proud to partner with the University of Georgia and support its great athletic programs by televising the Mark Richt and Dennis Felton shows to more than 8.2 million SportSouth cable and satellite homes across six states in the Southeast.”

“SportSouth is a new and energetic regional outlet, and we look forward to having our coaches’ shows televised through their television network,” said University of Georgia Director of Athletics Damon Evans. “It’s a great opportunity to expand our total viewership not only in the state of Georgia, but in nearby states as well as the satellite tier.”

SportSouth will televise The Mark Richt Show and The Dennis Felton Show on Sundays at 12:30 p.m. ET and 7:30 p.m. ET during their respective seasons.

Part of the Fox Sports Net family, SportSouth is managed by FSN South, which has had a relationship with the Southeastern Conference since the network’s inception in 1990.

SportSouth reaches more than 8.2 million cable and satellite subscribers across a six-state region comprised of Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and regions of central and western North Carolina. Through its affiliates and other FNG-owned networks, FSN reaches more than 82 million homes through 22 regional networks. Headquartered in Los Angeles, FSN owned or affiliated regional sports networks serve as the TV home to 64 of the 82 MLB, NHL and NBA teams based in the United States.
