Virginia Earns Spot in Semis, 4-1, Over Trojans

ATHENS, Ga. --- The No. 3 Virginia men’s tennis team earned a spot in the NCAA Semifinals with its 4-1 victory over 12th-seeded USC on Saturday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
The Cavaliers became the first team from the Atlantic Coast Conference to ever make the semifinals in NCAA Tennis Tournament history. They will play the winner of the Georgia and UCLA match Monday at noon for a spot in the finals.
In its match versus the Trojans, Virginia won a very tight doubles point, clinched in a tiebreaker on court one by Somdev Devvarman and Treat Huey. It then used singles victories on the top three courts to cement the win. Dominic Inglot clinched for the Cavaliers in straight sets over Kaes Van’t Hof, 7-6, 6-3.
