May 12, 2007 | Baseball

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia-Mississippi State baseball game Friday at Foley Field was suspended due to rain in the top of the second inning. Georgia leads 2-0.

Game one will resume at 2 p.m, and then game two will follow. Georgia sophomore right-hander Stephen Dodson started Friday and gave up a pair of hits in the first but no runs. In the bottom of the frame, senior Jonathan Wyatt lined a one-out single and scored on a triple by sophomore Gordon Beckham. Freshman Rich Poythress followed with a slow-roller to third base, allowing Beckham to score for a 2-0 advantage over MSU and sophomore starter Chad Crosswhite.

The scheduled starting pitchers for game two are Georgia sophomore left-hander Nathan Moreau (4-2, 4.75 ERA) and MSU junior left-hander Justin Pigott (4-4, 5.33 ERA).
