UGA Athletic Association Tops 'Archway To Excellence' Goal
May 10, 2007 | General
ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia Athletic Association announced that it has raised $65 million towards its Investing In Champions initiative. That amount surpasses the established goal of $60 million toward the University of Georgia's $500M Archway to Excellence campaign. The Archway to Excellence campaign will continue through June, 2008.
"To exceed our goal with well over a year remaining in the Archway to Excellence Campaign is a major achievement," said UGA Director of Athletics Damon Evans. "I would like to thank everyone in the Bulldog family for their generosity and support. At the same time, I would like to challenge others to continue getting involved through the remainder of the campaign. While we have met our initial objective, we have not completed our mission. We aspire to make Georgia Athletics a program that all others emulate; the financial support of our donors is vital in our quest to set those standards."
The $60 million goal for the Association’s Investing In Champions campaign involved raising $38 million for the Athletic General Endowment, $12 million to scholarship endowment and $10 million for facility enhancement and program improvement. To date, $38,860,352 has been raised for the Athletic Endowment, $10,434,798 for scholarship endowment and $15,747,499 for facilities and programs.
