Georgia's Tasha Humphrey Named AP All-American
March 29, 2007 | Women's Basketball
Humphrey, a 6-3, junior from Gainesville, Ga., was tabbed to the third team for a second consecutive season. She averaged team bests of 16.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the Lady Bulldogs, who finished 27-7 overall and advanced to the "Sweet 16" round of the NCAA Tournament.
During the 2006-07 campaign, Humphrey ascended into the Lady Bulldogs' top-10 career leaders for both points and rebounds. She will enter her senior campaign ranked No. 9 on both lists with 1720 points and 780 rebounds. In addition, Humphrey is currently ranked No. 4 in free throws made, No. 8 in free throw attempts and No. 10 in field goals made.
Humphrey was named first-team All-SEC in balloting of both league coaches and the AP for the third consecutive year.
Humphrey is just the second Lady Bulldog to earn first-, second- or third-team All-America status from the AP on two occasions. Kelly Miller was a first-team choice in both 2000 and '01. Other Georgia AP All-Americans include: Saudia Roundtree, a first-team pick in 1996 (the first year the AP named an All-America team in women's basketball); and teammates La'Keshia Frett and Kedra Holland-Corn, who were third-team picks in 1997.
