Georgia Golfers Finish Second In Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- The third-ranked Georgia men’s golf team finished second on Sunday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship, the Bulldogs’ third straight runner-up finish in the event.

The Bulldogs carded a final-round 5-over-par 293 to wind up at 13-over 877. UCLA claimed team honors at 10-under 874, including Sunday’s only par-or-better round at 1-under 287.

Georgia’s Chris Kirk finished tied for third in the individual race. Kirk shot a 1-under 71 Sunday and was 1-under 215 for the tournament. Kirk placed two shots behind Lucas Lee of UCLA.

Brendon Todd came in sixth at even-par 216 as he also closed with a 1-under 71. Brian Harman finished 14th at 4-over 220, including Sunday’s 2-over 74. Hudson Swafford shot a 5-over 77 in the final round to wind up at 16-over 232 and in 56th. Michael Green rounded out the lineup in 63rd at 17-over 233 following his 12-over 84 on Sunday.

The Bulldogs will return to action Saturday and Sunday at the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational in Statesboro.
