December 9, 1997 - The No. 23 Georgia men's basketball team scored the last 13 points to defeat Colorado 84-73 in Boulder. G.G. Smith led the way with 20 points and four rebounds.

- All-America QB John Rauch inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

December 9, 2002 - Sophomore David Pollack was named SEC Coaches' Football Player of the Year.

December 9, 2004 - Former Georgia Director of Athletics Vince Dooley receives the Contributions to College Football Award during The Home Depot College Football Awards Show in Orlando, Fla. The Award is presented annually to an individual who has been closely associated with college football as a player, coach, administrator, media personality or other position attendant to the game.

December 9, 2004 - Georgia defensive end David Pollack becomes Georgia's first winner of the Chuck Bednarik Award given annually to the nation's top defensive player.
