Athens Outtakes #15: 'Pink Eye' Greets End Of Finals Period
December 19, 2007 | Women's Basketball
This is the fifteenth installment in the series.
It doesn't seem possible that I have completed one semester of college. I finished my finals on Tuesday and hopefully all went well.
My mind was full of American History, Physics, English, and Basketball (the last one deserves a capital letter, too, since it is pretty important in the scheme of things). It feels like a 20-pound weight has been lifted off my shoulder in terms of academics, but the basketball schedule continues. We have four more non-conference games and then we begin the SEC schedule with Ole Miss on January 10 in Athens.
I woke up Tuesday morning with two pink and runny eyes. I tried to convince my trainer and my mom that I had just put too many hours into studying, but they insisted that I go to the clinic and get checked. You guessed it - "Pink Eye" - in both eyes!
I have never worn my glasses so much in my life. The only time I have been allowed to wear my contacts is to practice. Dr. Spicer, how long do I have to wait before I can get that laser surgery?
I am coming home Thursday morning and it will be so nice to see my family and friends and just relax. As Dorothy would say, there really is "no place like home"; at least until December 26th and then I'll be ready to head to Miami for the Sun and Fun Classic.
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year & Go Dawgs!
