Mimbs Named To ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team

A native of Dublin, Ga., Mimbs is majoring in risk management and insurance. Mimbs and the 10th-ranked Bulldogs are third in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in net punting at 37.3 yards. He is in his first season as the starting punter and also serves as the holder on field goals and extra points.
In his Bulldog career, Mimbs has made the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll, the UGA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and was the 2006-07 UGAA Academic Roundtable Honoree. Currently, he ranks fourth among SEC punters with a 42.4 average on 41 punts, placing 14 inside the 20 yard line.
The first team representatives from the nation’s eight districts are now on the national ballot for Academic All-America honors. Voting is done by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The national Academic All-America Team will be announced on Nov. 29. To make the district/national team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore and be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career.
