Georgia Volleyball Welcomes Mississippi State Sunday

ATHENS, Ga. --- The Southeastern Conference’s two institutions represented by Bulldog mascots, Georgia and Mississippi State, will square off on the volleyball court on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Ramsey Center.

In the first meeting between the schools this season on Oct. 12, Mississippi State (11-13, 6-9 SEC) defeated Georgia (15-10, 6-9 SEC) by a score of 3-1 (21-30, 30-23, 30-22, 30-27), but UGA leads the all-time series 29-9.

Both teams will enter the contest coming off of 3-0 sweeps of their last opponents on Friday night. Georgia swept SEC western division leader Alabama 3-0 (30-27, 31-29, 30-22), and was led by junior outside hitter Maria Taylor, who provided a match-best 18 kills. Mississippi State defeated Auburn 3-0 (30-26, 30-22, 30-28) and was paced by senior opposite hitter Jamie Joyner, who notched a match-best 15 kills.

Sunday's contest with Mississippi State will be both "Fall Festival Day" and "Girl Scouts Day." The fall festivities will include bobbing for apples, face painting and a cake walk. Girls Scouts are invited to the match and will receive a McDonalds coupon and a special patch for attending the match.
