ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia Equestrian coach Meghan Boenig announced on Wednesday that Emma Lipman, a hunt seat rider from Bedford, N.Y., has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend UGA and ride next year for the Bulldogs.
Lipman comes to Georgia as one of the nation’s top young riders in her discipline. She proved her status last month at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, where she placed seventh among 292 riders in the prestigious USEF/Pessoa Hunter Seat Equitation Medal Finals.
“We’re very excited to have Emma as a Mane Dawg,” Boenig said. “She has extraordinary athletic and academic abilities, with a Bulldog spirit that is already evident. Emma’s proven work ethic will pay off with great success here at Georgia.”
Lipman is a senior at Fox Lane High School in Bedford, where she currently carries a 4.0 grade point average. Among her many other riding accolades include an 8th-place finish at the same Medal Finals in 2005; a 6th-place showing at the 2007 North American Equitation Championship; a 4th place in the 2006 Maclay Regionals (Zone 2); and a 5th place at the 2005 New England Medal Finals.
Lipman is the first rider to sign with Georgia during the early national signing period, which began Nov. 14.
