Bulldogs Finalize Game Plan For Tech Game
November 21, 2007 | Football
ATHENS, Ga. --- Sixth-ranked Georgia continued preparations for their upcoming game with Georgia Tech, holding a two-hour workout Wednesday afternoon.
Thanksgiving will mark the one-year anniversary when Georgia head coach Mark Richt handed over play-calling duties to quarterbacks coach/offensive coordinator Mike Bobo. The move came right before the annual tilt with Georgia Tech.
“It was 6 a.m., and I was waiting for him in the office by the stairwell,” recalled Richt. “I said, don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody unless we win. He’s doing a great job.”
The Bulldogs went on to beat Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl. They enter Saturday’s game with the Yellow Jackets with a 9-2 record. Georgia has won six in a row over the Yellow Jackets, and Richt said every game is important especially against your rivals.
We try to win each game we play, and I remember our first year, the Georgia Tech game was a big deal,” said Richt. “They had won three in a row, and when we won that one, it made our season. It’s a lot of relief when you break through. We had lost five of six to Florida until this year, and it was a relief to win that one.”
The Bulldogs face Georgia Tech (7-4) at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium, and it will be televised regionally by ABC. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on AM 750 WSB in Atlanta and on both 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens. The radio audio also can be heard worldwide on both georgiadogs.com, the official website of UGA Athletics, and on XM Satellite Radio.
