ATHENS, Ga. --- Chelsey Gullickson, one of the top American junior players with vast international experience, has signed a national letter-of-intent to attend the University of Georgia, Bulldog head coach Jeff Wallace announced Sunday.

Gullickson, a native of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., is the daughter of Bill and Sandy Gullickson. She is a student of the Laurel Springs School and currently trains at The Harold Solomon Tennis Institute in Fort Lauderdale.

Gullickson has been ranked as high as 76 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) World Junior Rankings. She reached the round of 16 at the 2007 Wimbledon Juniors and the quarterfinals of the Australian Open Juniors. She won four ITF titles in 2005 including a doubles title in Peru and three others in Morocco. She was one of four ladies chosen to represent the United States in two ITF Australian Summer Circuit events.

Gullickson comes from a very athletic family. Her father Bill enjoyed a 14-year career in the major leagues as a pitcher while her mother Sandy played tennis at Western Kentucky. She is one of five siblings and her older sister, Carly, is a professional tennis player on the WTA tour.

“We’re thrilled that Chelsey will be joining us at the University of Georgia,” said Wallace. “She has experienced success around the world, and she will be a great addition to the program. “
