ATHENS, Ga. --- Two members of the University of Georgia Athletic Association Development Office have been promoted to Director positions, according to an announcement made by Director of Athletics Damon Evans.

Steven Farmer has been promoted from Major Gifts Officer to Director of Capital Support and Carolyn Center has been promoted from Assistant Director of Development to Director of Development.

"Steven and Carolyn are very deserving of the promotions," said Alan Thomas, Georgia's Associate Athletic Director for External Affairs. "Both have been valuable staff members in our development efforts and have proven themselves worthy of the additional responsibilities." Farmer joined the Athletic Association staff in August of 2002 as a Major Gifts officer. His responsibilities included the identification, cultivation and solicitation of private and corporate financial support for the Athletic Association. A native of Rome, Ga., Farmer earned his bachelor's in Finance from Georgia in 1998 and a master's in Sports Management in 2000. He was a manager on the football team in 1996 and 1997 and a graduate assistant in the football equipment room in 1998.

Center arrived in Athens in June of 2006. As Assistant Director, she managed the department's annual giving efforts, including the William C. Hartman Jr. Fund, the Gymnastics Endowment Fund and the Basketball Enhancement Fund. She also coordinated all priority seating for development, including the regular season and the postseason. The native of Westport, Conn., earned a bachelor's in Leadership Studies from Richmond in 1999 and a master's in Sport Management from North Carolina State in 2003.
