Getting To Know Georgia Volleyball Student-Athlete Simone May

ATHENS, Ga. --- Throughout the 2007 volleyball season, both volleyball fans and Bulldog fans alike can get to know members of the UGA volleyball team with question and answer sessions being featured on Georgiadogs.com. Simone May, a native of Guntersville, Ala., is a redshirt freshman middle/outside hitter for the Bulldogs and is the 13th installment in the series.
Question: What do you like most about the city of Athens?
Answer: The beautiful and lively campus.
Q: What volleyball memory stands out the most for you?
A: Winning the class-4A state championship match in 2005.
Q: If you could play any other sport in college, what would it be?
A: Lacrosse.
Q: What are some of your favorite things to do in your spare time when you are not playing volleyball?
A: Study, read, watch TV and listen to music.
Q: Do you have a favorite type of music you listen to? A favorite artist?
A: R& B; various artists, and gospel; Donnie McKurklin, Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: The Skeleton Key.
Q: What is your favorite sports movie?
A: The Longest Yard.
Q: Do you have a favorite food or meal?
A: Besides meals that Alexis Morgan cooks (wink, wink), I love the traditional crispy fried chicken, creamed corn, black-eyed peas, fried green tomatoes and corn bread with peach cobbler for dessert.
Q: What is your favorite holiday?
A: Christmas.
Q: What was your favorite TV show growing up?
A: Franklin, and the Muppet Babies.
Q: What is the best book that you have ever read?
A: Casting the First Stone.
Q: What is your favorite class you have taken so far at UGA?
A: Health and Wellness (HPRB).
Q: What is the place that you havent traveled to, which you would most like to visit?
A: Nigeria.
Q: Who was your favorite teacher and what was your favorite subject in high school?
A: Mrs. Murray; Spanish.
Q: What is your favorite quote/saying?
A: "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who trusts him!" Psalm 34:8
The Georgia volleyball team takes to the road this weekend for a pair of Southeastern Conference eastern division matches. On Friday, the Bulldogs will be in Knoxville, Tenn., to take on the Tennessee Lady Vols (8-12, 3-9
SEC) at 7 p.m. ET, and on Sunday, the Bulldogs will be in Lexington, Ky., for a 1:30 p.m. meeting with the Kentucky Wildcats (17-6, 8-4 SEC). Georgia played each school earlier this season at home, defeating Tennessee 3-2 but falling to Kentucky 3-1.
