Georgia To Participate In National College Alcohol Awareness Week

ATHENS, Ga. --- In support of the upcoming National College Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW), Robert Miles, director of Georgia's Life Skills Program and senior tailback Kregg Lumpkin will participate in a press conference to raise awareness of the importance of alcohol education on college campuses.

The press conference will take place at Georgia Tech on Oct. 22 at 10:00 a.m., and will be hosted by the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety in partnership with local colleges and universities. Lumpkin and other speakers will discuss the importance of education, responsible behaviors and current state laws regarding alcohol, substance abuse and impaired driving.

In 2005, there were 1,700 alcohol related fatalities among students 18-24 years of age in the United States. More than 2.1 million students between the ages of 18-24 drove under the influence of alcohol last year.
