October 12, 1929 - The UGA football team got off to the right start in their new stadium with a 15-0 thrashing of eastern powerhouse Yale. Vernon “Catfish” Smith scored all 15 points to help open Sanford Stadium in style.
October 12, 1968 - With Ole Miss leading the Bulldogs, 7-6, a Kent Lawrence 7-yard TD run gave Georgia the lead en route to a 21-7 win.
October 12, 1991 - Freshman quarterback Eric Zeier threw for 216 yards in his first start and Larry Ware rushed for 166 yards as No. 23 Georgia thumped No. 22 Ole Miss 37-17 in Oxford.
October 12, 1998 - The unseeded UGA duo of Aarthi Venkatesan and Zoe Mellis won the SEC Fall Championship in women's tennis, beating a solid duo from Vanderbilt.
October 12, 2007 - Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle became a member of the 400-wins club on Friday as the Lady Bulldogs knocked off Arkansas and North Texas.
