August 31, 2006 - Practice Notes
September 02, 2006 | Gymnastics
Thursday afternoon the girls were hard at work in the gym, preparing for the start of mandatory practice which is quickly approaching.
The freshmen are continuing to adjust to their new environment and are fitting in well with the rest of the team. Freshman Marcia Newby has had her fair share of adjustments, particularly with her skills on the uneven bars. She had to move the bars out wider than usual to comply with the team setting. Because of her height she was surprised that she actually had to jump to the high bar for the first time! Junior Audrey Bowers who is recovering from recent shoulder surgery is progressing smoothly with her rehab. She is already doing handstands and starting to hang on the bar! Way to go Audg!
Katie and Tiffany were back in action on the uneven bars, with Tiffany already completing half routines and Katie improving on her new combination (full pirouette on the low bar after her toe on toe off).
The gymdogs are focusing in on conditioning and strength for the next few weeks and spending a lot of time together getting to know each other.
Also to note that the new athletic trainer for the gymdogs is Anna Randa, and she is been doing a great job keeping track of all the girls! That’s all for this week, stay tuned for more updates next week! Go Dogs!
