September 16, 1978 - With Baylor leading the Bulldogs 7-6, tailback Willie McClendon rumbled in with 2:55 remaining to secure the season opener. Georgia went on to finish 9-2-1 and earn a berth in the Bluebonnet Bowl.

September 16, 2006 - Georgia pitched consecutive shutouts for the first time in 26 years and the Bulldogs got touchdowns from four different players in the 34-0 victory against Alabama-Birmingham on Saturday at Sanford Stadium. After a video tribute honoring the late Erk Russell was played at halftime, the Bulldogs posted their second straight shutout since the national championship year of 1980 when Russell was the Bulldogs’ defensive coordinator. For the game, Georgia (3-0) held the Blazers (1-2) to 163 total yards.
