Georgia Softball Announces 2007 Schedule

ATHENS, Ga. - The defending SEC Eastern Division Champion Georgia Bulldog softball team released its 2007 schedule on Tuesday, according to an announcement by head coach Lu Harris-Champer.
Georgia opens its season on Feb. 9 in Lafayette, La., when it takes part in a tournament on the Louisiana-Lafayette campus. The Bulldogs will also participate in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Leadoff Classic (Feb. 23-25) in Columbus, Ga., and a four-day tournament (Mar. 1-4) hosted by the University of Hawaii in Honolulu.
The Bulldogs, who return 11 letterwinners from a squad that advanced to the championship game of an NCAA Regional, open their home slate on Feb. 16 when they host the Fourth Annual Georgia Softball Classic.
World Series participant Tennessee visits Athens on April 7 for a three-game series. Southeastern Conference teams coming to Athens also will include LSU, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Ole Miss.
Georgia has six starting position players returning with a pair of All-Americans in seniors Kellie Middleton (.409 BA-4 HR-40 RBI) and Megan McAllister (.350-16-64). Senior Becky Mohl (.096-0-7), juniors Sojourner Moody (.326-0-10) and Alison Horne (.270-7-37), and sophomore Chelsea Cantillo (.354-0-32) round out the list of returning starters.
Right-hander Kasi Carroll (30-6, 1.44 ERA) returns for her senior campaign to pace the Bulldogs in the circle this season. The native of Norris City, Ill., collected a win against every SEC school and posted eight wins against top 25 teams in 2006, highlighted by victories at Alabama, against Tennessee and at LSU.
