Lady Bulldogs in the WNBA

Continuing the history of Lady Bulldogs' participation in professional women's basketball, eight former Lady Bulldogs are currently playing in the WNBA, giving Georgia the third-most alumni in the league of any school in the nation. Not only do the Lady Dogs go on to play in the professional ranks, but they also are chosen early in the draft selection process. In 1997, Kedra Holland-Corn, La'Keshia Frett, and Tracy Henderson were among the top-15 selections in the ABL. In 2001, Lady Bulldogs Kelly Miller, Deanna "Tweety" Nolan and Coco Miller were chosen with the No. 2, No. 6 and No. 9 picks, respectively, in the first round of the WNBA draft making the Lady Dogs the first team in league history to have three first-round selections. Both in 1997 and in 2001, three Lady Bulldogs were picked before any other team in the nation had even two players chosen. Since 2001, eight Lady Bulldogs have been WNBA first-round draft picks, including Tasha Humphrey in 2008

In 2003, Deanna "Tweety" Nolan became the first Lady Dog to earn a spot in the WNBA All-Star game and made the most of that opportunity, scoring 15 points. "Tweety" followed up this performance by significantly contributing, along with then Detroit teammate Kedra Holland-Corn,to the Detroit Shock's run through the 2003 WNBA Playoffs and Finals that culminated in winning the 2003 WNBA Title on September 16, 2003. Nolan was named MVP of the WNBA Finals after leading Detroit to its second crown in 2006. In 2007, Kelly Miller became the fourth former Lady Bulldog to earn a WNBA Championship ring as the starting point guard for the Phoenix Mercury.
