1996 - Georgia basketball great Teresa Edwards opened the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta by reading the Athlete's Oath, while teammate Katrina McClain helps bring in the Olympic flag. In addition, seven current and former Georgia track and field standouts represented their countries at the Opening Ceremonies, including Gwen Torrence (United States), Debbie Ferguson (Bahamas), Gudrun Arnardottir (Iceland), Jon Magnusson (Iceland), Jan Bielecki (Denmark), Wolfgang Kriessig (Germany) and Dawda Jallow (Gambia)
2004 - Living legend Teresa Edwards reached another milestone, her 40th birthday. Edwards, a two-time All-American for Georgia and a five-time U.S. Olympian, is currently in her second season with the Minnesota Lynx. She made her debut last season as a 38-year-old "rookie" and has started every game for the Lynx since. To honor Edwards' 40th, the Lynx highlighted 40 facts about the Cairo, Ga., native.
2006 - Georgia’s Chris Colwill earned a bronze medal and was the top American performer on the first day of competition at the XV FINA Diving World Cup in Changshu, China. The rising senior placed third on 1-meter springboard.
