May 03, 2006 | Equestrian
The Georgia equestrian team continues to stock its 2006 recruiting class with the addition of Alex Finder, a talented English rider from Potomac, Md.
"Alex is a smart, young rider," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. "I think her success in academics and athletics is a great balance to bring to the team."
Finder is a senior at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Md. where she is an honor roll student with a 3.7 grade point average. Her extensive riding career includes qualifying for the junior hunter finals in 2005 and 2006. She placed seventh overall in zone three in the older small juniors in 2005. In 2006 she has been awarded top ribbons in the prestigious USEF Hunt Seat Equitation Medal classes.
In 2002, 2003, and 2004 Finder qualified and competed on her horse Argyle at the Washington International Horse Show in the Children's Section, where she also qualified a catch-ride, Lily, in 2004. She qualified both Argyle and Lilly for Harrisburg in 2004 and qualified for the World Championship Hunter-Jumper Classic in 2004 where she finished fourth overall and in the zone.
Finder has also been named a Presidential Art Scholar for Photography and she is serving as the Photo Editor for the Winston Churchill High School 2005-06 yearbook.
