Bulldogs Win Linger Longer Invitational

GREENSBORO - The No. 1-ranked Georgia men's golf team tied the school record for wins in a season by claiming the inaugural Linger Longer Invitational crown on Monday at Reynolds Plantation.
The Bulldogs posted a final-round 1-over 289 to give them a 54-hole total of 9-under 855. Georgia won the tournament by 14 shots over Charlotte (869).
"I am really proud of the way this team has taken care of its business," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "They have prepared well and they have been focused in the tournaments. The guys deserve the wins they've been able to roll up. Hopefully, they've got a couple more left in them."
The Bulldogs now have six victories this season: the Ping/Golfweek Preview, the Isleworth Invitational, the Puerto Rico Classic, the Hooters Match Play Championship, the SEC Championship and the Linger Longer Invitational. The 2001 Georgia squad also won six titles.
Senior Kevin Kisner paced the Bulldogs as he finished third at 3-under 213, including a final-round even-par 72. Charlotte's Trevor Murphy won the individual crown at 5-under 211 after topping North Carolina's Martin Ureta in a playoff.
Senior Richard Scott was sixth at 2-under 214 after he closed with a 1-over 73. Junior Chris Kirk (71) and freshman Brian Harman (73) finished 10th at 1-over 217, followed by junior Brendon Todd (75) in 13th at 2-over 218.
